On May 10, 2010, the fourth consultation between the foreign ministries of China and nine Caribbean countries which have diplomatic ties with China including Guyana, Antigua and Barbuda, the Bahamas, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica was held in Nassau, capital of the Bahamas. The consultation was jointly presided over by China's Vice Foreign Minister Li Jinzhang and Brent Symonette, Bahamian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs. Both sides spoke highly of the development of friendship and cooperative relations in recent years between China and the Caribbean countries. The two sides also reached broad consensus on boosting pragmatic cooperation in such fields as politics, economy, culture, education and global affairs. A joint press communique was issued after the consultation.
