Chinese Embassy Hosted Farewell and Welcome Reception for Chinese Medical Teams to Guyana

His Excellency Zhang Limin, Chinese Ambassador to Guyana and Madame Liu Yue hosted a farewell and welcome reception for the Chinese medical teams in the Chinese Embassy in Guyana on June 14, 2014. President Donald Ramotar, Prime Minster Samuel Hinds, Minister of Health Dr. Bheri Ramsaran, Director General Elizabeth Harper of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Guyana, members of the 10th and 11th medical teams, representatives from local Chinese companies and media attended the reception.

Ambassador Zhang highly affirmed the 10th medical team's work in promoting the friendly relations between China and Guyana, and expressed gratitude to the relevant departments of the government of Guyana for their long-time care for and support of the Chinese medical teams. Ambassador Zhang welcomed the 11th team to Guyana and urged them to continue with their efforts to provide quality service to the local people and make more contributions to deepening friendship between the two peoples.

President Ramotar thanked the Chinese medical teams for their contributions in advancing the local health service. He spoke highly of China's enormous achievements since reform and opening-up and China's important role in boosting the economic growth of the world especially in addressing the global financial crisis. President Ramotar stressed that China's selfless assistance was of great significance to Guyana's economic and social development. As the embodiment of China's humanitarian assistance to the developing countries, Chinese medical team to Guyana was warmly received by Guyanese people. President Ramotar expected the new team to make greater contributions to strengthening the friendship between the two peoples and bilateral relations.
