On March 1, 2017, His Excellency Cui Jianchun, Chinese Ambassador to Guyana called on His Excellency David Granger, President of Guyana.

Ambassador Cui spoke highly of the China-Guyana friendly cooperative relations and vowed to take the opportunity of 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties to strengthen the practical and friendly cooperation in various areas between the two countries, and to continuously promote China-Guyana relations.

President Granger said Guyana and China enjoy a long-standing and friendly relationship with fruitful cooperation. He said Guyana stands ready to work  with China to enhance the cooperation in all areas including infrastructure, and to bring China-Guyana relationship to a new height.
