Chinese Embassy in Guyana Held "China and Guyana:45 Years of Friendship"Seminar

On June 8th, Chinese Embassy in Guyana held the “China and Guyana:45 Years of Friendship”Seminar in commemorating the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the China and Guyana. Acting President Honorable Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo, Former government officials, guests from various circles in Guyana, representatives of the Chinese companies and Chinese community in Guyana attended the seminar.

H.E. Ambassador Cui Jianchun gave a keynote speech. He said China-Guyana relations has developed continuously and healthily since the establishment of diplomatic ties, with fruitful cooperation in various fields. Both sides should take the opportunity of the 45th anniversary to push forward the friendly and practical cooperation between the two countries and bring China-Guyana relations to new height. Ambassador Cui also introduced China’s development, “One Belt One Road” Initiative, China’s Policy Paper on Latin America and Caribbean and China-Guyana “5IT” cooperation initiative.

In his remarks, Acting President Nagamootoo said Guyana and China enjoy a long history of friendship. Chinese came to Guyana 164 years ago and have become an important part of Guyana’s society. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties, China has rendered its help to Guyana, and the cooperation in talent training, public health, economy and trade and many other areas between the two countries has developed continuously. Acting President Nagamootoo wished that the two sides keep dialogue and engage with each other and make unremitting endeavor to promote the development of friendly cooperative relationship between Guyana and China.

Then, guests from all walks of life who have witnessed and participated in development of China-Guyana relations respectively shared their views on the history of China-Guyana relations, opportunity and challenge in the cooperation between the two countries and how to promote the relations and practical cooperation. The seminar was permeated with warm and friendly atmosphere.
