The Leaders of China and Guyana Exchange Letters of Congratulation upon the 45th Anniversary of the Establishment of Bilateral Diplomatic Ties

President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping and President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana David Granger exchanged letters of congratulation warmly cerebrating the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties on June 27, 2017.

In the letter of congratulation, President Xi said Guyana was one of the very first Caribbean countries to establish diplomatic ties with China. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties 45 years ago, China-Guyana relations have been developing comprehensively, with fruitful exchange and cooperation in various fields and ever-growing friendship between the two peoples. I attach great importance to the development of China-Guyana relations and stand ready to work with Your Excellency to consolidate mutual political trust, expand mutually beneficial cooperation and promote the friendly and cooperative relationship between China and Guyana to display new vigor and vitality.

In the letter of congratulation, President Granger said that Since the establishment of diplomatic ties, Guyana and China have maintained a vibrant programme of cooperation which is mutually beneficial through frequent, active, and dynamic programs of cooperation, which now cover diverse field of activities. The Government and people of Guyana look forward to the further strengthening of our relations in the years ahead and for the continued development of programs which will redound to the mutual benefit of our peoples.

On the same day, Minister of Foreign Affairs of China Wang Yi exchanged letters of congratulation with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Guyana Carl Greenidge.
