Xinjiang Art Troupe visited Guyana and put on two successful performances at the National Cultural Center from December 14 to 15, 2014. Over 3000 thousand people, including Chinese Ambassador to Guyana His Excellency Zhang Limin, President of Guyana Donald Ramotar, Prime Minister Samuel Hinds, Secretary General of the Ruling People's Progressive Party Honorable Clement Rohee, Minister of Culture Honorable Dr. Frank Anthony and other senior government officials, people from all walks of life and members of Chinese community in Guyana watched the show.

In his remarks, Ambassador Zhang pointed out that China is a big family of 56 ethnic groups and Xinjiang is a typical example of harmonious inhabitation of multiple ethnic groups and integration of different cultures. The friendship between China and Guyana has a long history. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties, two countries have witnessed ever-growing political, economic and trade and cultural relations. Exchanges and mutual learning will boost the development and prosperity of the Chinese and Guyanese cultures and contribute to the deepening of mutual understanding and friendship between two peoples. He believed that the cultural and people-to-people exchanges would achieve greater progress.

Minister Anthony said that China-Guyana relations, cultural exchanges in particular, have kept growing over the past years. The Confucius Institute at the University of Guyana aroused interest of more Guyanese people in the Chinese language. He commended China's efforts and achievements in sustaining the rich and diversified Chinese culture, and expressed gratitude for the wonderful performance of every art troupe from China.

During more than two hours of performance, the artists presented a cultural feast of songs, dances, magic and acrobatics which was received with rapturous applause from the audience. The National Communications Network, the Government Information Agency, The Chronicle reported on the show.
