On March 19, 2021, the Guyana-China Friendship Youth Leadership Development Award was formally launched at the signing ceremony of the cooperation MOU between the Embassy of the People's Republic of China and the Ministry of Education of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana. The Award will benefit 11 secondary school students who exemplify themselves during the 2021 National Competition to be held by the Ministry of Education.

At the ceremony, Mr. Chen Xilai, Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy, said that China always values high on youth education and is glad to assist the development of the education sector of Guyana. The Chinese side hopes this Award can inspire the Guyanese students to achieve their dreams to become the future leaders of the country as well as contribute to the development of Guyana and the friendship between China and Guyana.
