Chinese Embassy in Guyana holds National Day Reception

On September 23rd , 2014, H.E. Mr. Zhang Limin, Chinese Ambassador to Guyana, and his wife Madame Liu Yue held the National Day reception at Chinese Embassy to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. H.E. Mr. Samuel Hinds, Acting President of the Republic of Guyana and Mrs. Hinds and other dignitaries of all circles of Guyana, diplomatic corps in Guyana, and representatives of Chinese corporations, local Chinese communities attended the reception.

                                          

Ambassador Zhang reviewed China's remarkable achievements on various fields through more than 30 years of rapid development since the reform and opening-up policy. He pointed out that, notwithstanding China's big economic volume, the per capita GDP only ranks around 80th in the world. China, however, has established its future development goals, that is, to double the 2010 GDP and per capita income of urban and rural residents and complete the building of a society of moderate prosperity in all respects by 2020; and to build a modern socialist country that is prosperous, strong, democratic, culturally advanced and harmonious by the middle of this century.

                                          

Ambassador Zhang spoke highly of the present China-Latin America cooperation and the China-Guyana relations. He said that China and Guyana have become sincere friends and reliable partners through each other's friendly cooperation, and the friendship between the two countries is deeply rooted in the two peoples' heart.

H.E. Mr. Samuel Hinds, Acting President of Guyana, warmly congratulated the 65th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China in his speech. He highly praised China's remarkable achievements in all aspects, expressed gratitude to China's support to Guyana for its economic growth and social development. He committed Guyana's willingness to further develop the bilateral relationship of the two countries under the guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Donald Ramotar.

                                          

During the reception, a picture exhibition called Colorful China was held, with Chinese cultural materials circulated to guests. The reception proceeded in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
