Ambassador Zhang Limin Witnessed the Handover of Medical Equipments Donated by China

The handover ceremony of medical equipments donated to Guyana by Subei People’s Hospital of Jiangsu Province of China was held in the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) on April 8, 2016. His Excellency Zhang Limin, Chinese Ambassador to Guyana and Hon. Dr. Karen Cummings, Minister within the Ministry of Public Health of Guyana signed the certificated on behalf of China and Guyana respectively. Representatives of the GPHC, members of the Chinese medical team in Guyana and local media attended the ceremony.

Ambassador Zhang highlighted that the cooperation between China and Guyana in health and other fields are getting closer day by day. The dispatch of medical teams, offering of government scholarships in medicine and donation of medical equipments by China all greatly improved the level of local health care. Ambassador Zhang expressed gratitude to the government of Guyana for their care to the Chinese medical teams and the hard work of the team members. He believed that the bilateral friendly cooperation will progress further.

On behalf of the government of Guyana, Minister Cummings expressed gratitude to the Chinese government for its valuable assistance to Guyana in medical and health care over the past decades. She spoke highly of the skilled Chinese medical teams for their important contribution in enhancing the friendship between the Chinese and the Guyanese peoples and strengthening the capacity building of local hospitals. She said Guyana is looking forward to deepening cooperation in health with China.
