The Chinese Embassy in Guyana was decorated with lanterns and festoons and filled with joy on February 13, 2015. Chinese Ambassador Zhang Limin and Madame Liu Yue hosted the 2015 Spring Festival reception. President of Guyana Donald Ramotar, friendly personage from all walks of life of Guyana, representatives of the Chinese companies and Chinese community in Guyana were present at the happy get-together to celebrate and usher in the Chinese Spring Festival of the year of sheep.
Ambassador Zhang extended New Year greetings to the guests, and briefed them on China’s development and progress in China-Latin America and China-Guyana relations. Ambassador Zhang said that China’s economy has entered “new normal”. It will maintain medium to high rate of growth and make new contributions to the common prosperity of the world. To comprehensively deepen reform and to promote the rule of law reinforcing each other will lay a solid foundation for realizing the Chinese dream of national renewal and create greater space for the cooperation between China and other countries in the world.
Ambassador Zhang pointed out that China and Latin America have established a partnership of comprehensive cooperation, set up China-CELAC Forum and held the first ministerial meeting of the Forum successfully. The rapid，all-round growth of China Latin America and Caribbean relations serves the shared interests of both sides as well as peace and development of Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean and that of the world. Ambassador Zhang stressed that the two meetings between President Xi Jinping and President Ramotar have injected new and strong impetus to China-Guyana relations. The mutually beneficial cooperation between two countries keeps expanding and people-to-people and cultural exchanges get even closer. Further deepening cooperation and enhancing friendship has become common wishes of the two peoples.
On behalf of the government and people of Guyana, President Ramotar sent best wishes for the New Year to President Xi Jinping and Chinese people. He said that Guyana-China friendly ties had a long history and expressed gratitude for China’s assistance to Guyana’s development. President Ramotar praised Chinese people’s diligence and dedication. He spoke highly of China’s great achievements since reform and opening-up and leading role in the global economic growth. He believed that cooperation with China boosted the development of the third world countries in Latin American and African regions.
A warm atmosphere of amity permeated the banquet. The host and guests frequently raised their glasses and exchanged sentiments of friendship. Books, magazines, DVDs, pictures about China especially Governance of China by President Xi Jinping were well received by the guests.
